It's akin to watching creativity just explode onscreen -- part abstract, part musical, part improvisation-style comedy, and, most compellingly, all inspired by real-life pain.

I've never been prouder to live in Champaign. This film from Champaign-Urbana resident Nina Paley proves that a more traditional sort of 2D animation can be every bit as mind-blowingly beautiful as anything Pixar produces. The style is absolutely mesmerizing and quite unlike anything I've ever seen. Also, the music by Annette Hanshaw was wonderfully utilized giving the musical a delightful twist.

written, directed, and animated by one person. for that reason alone you should see this. on top of that it is very entertaining
