Soa desconexo.

excellent film! I only wish someone would give m the tracking listing to the soundtrack... fin-de-siecle Paris never looked so lush, the nostalgia, the anti-Semitism of the time (surely the mentioning of the Dreyfus affair & Madeline's disfigurement was no coincidence!!). So very well done.

Here to prove that misogyny never quite goes out of style in the cinema, French director Bertrand Bonello presents this wearisome, questionable spectacle.

What gives the film its haunting pull, as well as its feminist undercurrent, is the filmmaker's palpable compassion for these women.
