this is one of the best films that I have seen all year. The acting and cinematography were world class. the story - poetic.

Amazing movie with great scenery and even better acting with strong performances from Christian Bale among others with a very conclusive ending

Not sure why it's taken me so long to see this film. For those who have not heard of it or seen it, please go watch what is nothing short of masterful & artful. It's a patient build up that will pull you in close, hold tight to your emotions, and tell you the true story of the many brave souls lost along a difficult transport and its unlikely bond. Christian Bale is at his very best, as are every member of the cast. You will learn many lessons from this film, and it will refine your heart and soul.

Warning: bring extra tissues. This movie snuck up on me and surprised me with its very core story of the willingness of the human spirit to survive together and build respect and admiration regardless of cultural diversity. Wes Studi delivers the performance of his career as Chief Yellow Hawk, dying of cancer and longing to journey home to Montana. As always, Christian Bale delivers a mesmerizing performance as Army Captain Joseph Blocker, a legendary war veteran who is begrudgingly tasked with the responsibility of escorting Chief Yellow Hawk and his family home to Montana through treacherous Comanche territory and hostile white camps. Rosamund Pike, Ben Foster, and Adam Beach provide performances that enhance this human experience. If you are looking for a movie that doesn't fit the usual fare, this is a very refreshing escape. No superheroes, magic hammers, or fantasy experience here. Hostiles delivers a human experience that reminds us that though we are different, we are the same.

An amazing film. Brutal, poignant and stunning - why this film did not get a theatrical release in Australia (or even a Blu-Ray/DVD release) staggers me. AMazing cast, breath-taking cinematography and a great story. This is a fantastic modern Western with something to say. Hunt it down.
