Not a great movie by and for Eastwood himself but a definite change of pace for him. Kind of hard to be a C&W singer when you cant sing.

The critics didn't like this film, but I beg to differ. Perhaps I'm naive and gullible, but to me it rings true in its local color and the coping of poor people in the Depression amidst the aspirations of young and old alike Great movie to watch

The most moving thing about this film was understanding that Clint Eastwood directed and co-starred with his own 14-year-old son in this road picture. How sweet is that? Above average film also reveals Clint not only as the tough guy we all know and love, but also a capable singer of some catchy depression-era country tunes. It's too bad he didn't make it to that audition and recording session earlier in the pic - the musical performances were the best part of this film.
