As absurdly over-the-top as any of Yoshihiro Nishimura's films, Helldriver is also a tad more focused and therefore, a little more coherent. Fans of his previous films will find themselves very much at home here.

The first word is spoken 8 minutes into the film. The opening credits is also starting at 48 minutes into the film.

A movie full of Fuck Yes, the first from first frame to last I've seen since Crank 2, only (if you can believe it) crazier. Full review to come, but suffice to say it's one of the best schlock films I may have ever seen - is it any "good", no, but I loved the shit out of it all the same and laughed uncontrollably in certain sections (the ones that Nishimura, sick fuck he is, excels at). I'd kill to have a sake with him.

It doesn't quite live up to its contemporaries in this sub-genre but it's as suitably insane and entertaining as Machine Girl or RoboGeisha. It's so strange seeing Eihi Shiina in this after Audition, but she's still amazing.
