This film is historically inaccurate. It contains a fictional bounty hunter character who hunts Harriet and tries to kill her. The kicker is that the bounty hunter is a BLACK man.

Harriet Tubman deserved a lot better than this cringe-worthy, poorly acted, poorly directed mess. The lead didn't do anything to make herself believable, and her singing parts sounded so weird it helped deem the movie unwatchable. People desperately want this movie to be meaningful because of the subject matter, but it's embarrassingly close to a Hallmark production.

Tubman’s case to be on the $20 bill, as a heroine straight out of American myth, is made, a brave Christian woman sprinting down the path of the righteous. Harriet stumbles when it makes her more prophetic and less a woman of action than she was.
