Gloomy Sunday (1999)

Budapest in the 1930s. Restaurant owner Laszlo hires pianist András to play in his restaurant. Both men fall in love with the beautiful waitress Ilona who inspires András to his only composition. His song of Gloomy Sunday is, at first, loved and then feared, for its melancholic melody sets off a chain of suicides. The fragile balance of the erotic ménage à trois is sent off kilter when the German Hans falls in love with Ilona as well.

A beautiful movie about a complicated love-story in Budapest - and an alternative, realistic view of the "good" nazis who "saved" jews in WW2. And the music...

One of my favourite movies. Beautiful music and the song is a perfect for the film. Be prepared that it's a bit gloomy. Am thankful that I am a christian.

One of my friends, who has watched this movie, told me that he didn't enjoy it because the characters were not look like real and their connections were discreditable and unbelievable. But in my opinion,it was a very tragic and dramatic movie which made me somehow exited and somehow depressed.I enjoyed watching it and never forget it,particularly its soundtrack,

Wonderful Scenes which made me so interested in travelling to Budapest. Background of WWII.
