This film is a great look at the hearts of people and how often we tend to not see ourselves as clearly as we think we do. This movie made me think about how I treat people and what I stand up for and allow to be said. A must see!

Gentleman's Agreement was groundbreaking in 1947 and the first time the word "Jew" was used in a film. In 2007 the story remains relevant. Gregory Peck comes off stoic and the dialouge a little forced, but Peck never steps out of charachter. Just when you're ready to cringe at the relentless pursuit of the topic at hand Dorthy McGuires's charachter shouts "....Please No more lessons in tolerance!" In that moment, with 20/20 vision and 50 years of hindsight you feel the impact of the story. It was the first cinematic lesson in anti-semitism and remains a powerful film to this end.

Sort of like a preachier, romantic, and dated version of Crash. Gregory Peck's performance is quite good.

It's very rare that Hollywood makes a film that's important and doesn't seem sanctimonious or corny. This film is absolutely fantastic.

I think this is a movie of importance as opposed to a perfect film on it's own, but it yields extremely strong performances. Definitely shows once again, the strength of Elia Kazan as an actor's director.
