A thought provoking look at the negative influence of anti semitism post WW2.Peck is as humble and watchable as ever.A poignant scene at the beginning before Pecks eventual self awakening has his son standing with him at the statue of a man holding a sphere of the Earth claiming "This man has the weight of the world on his shoulders". Dont we all?

First off, Gregory Peck is amazing. And secondly, the ideas of anti-Semitism paint an interesting story about our country's history. Watch the DVD Special Features to learn more about Hollywood and their ostracizing of individuals. Good stuff.

Powerful film taking on the issue of racism and anti-Semitism not long after WWII ended. This film won Best Picture and has a great message in that some of the worst kinds of prejudice are the silent kind, when people just sit back and let things happen in order to go with the flow. I also love any movie that has NYC as a back drop. Seeing some familiar spots circa 1947 was fantastic.

Wonderful acting and a strong story with a powerful message. Keep in mind this movie was made in 1948, 3 years after the Holocaust.

I think this is a movie of importance as opposed to a perfect film on it's own, but it yields extremely strong performances. Definitely shows once again, the strength of Elia Kazan as an actor's director.
