the best Gamera trilogy of the Heisei era

Extremely overrated, but still a blast. Not a whole lot of focus on Gamera, but completely necessary, as seen in the end. The action sequences are phenomenal, and the plot is (as always) intriguing and original. Great to have cast from the first film back for the third, as well, the new members are just as good. The effects aren't up to snuff, but are easily satisfying. Another epic Kaiju film from the talented Shusuke Kaneko.

Ok, now, we all know I'm a Godzilla fan, right? No other monster will ever mean as much to me as him. With that out of the way, I have to admit that this film is, without a doubt, the finest Kaiju film ever produced. Everything, from the constant effects to the elaborate monsters to the emotional story to the epic music to the destructive battle scenes, EVERYTHING is perfect. You would be hard pressed to find a monster movie this exciting, or touching, or surprising. And, unlike many sequels (particularly of the genre), this film ties into and wraps up the trilogy remarkably well. The only downside is that it ends frustratingly with a cliffhanger that, alas, will probably never be resolved. Still, even as cliffhangers go, it somehow manages to feel like an ending, as opposed to making you feel cheated. Awesome movie!

For kaiju fans only! This one topped out the trilogy. At a budget equal to only 5 million american dollars, the effects were Hollywood quality. A strong story, and strong performances (see it sub'd) make this film what it is. Suspenseful, scary, exciting... it had it all!
