I give this film two stars because I remember as a 6 year old child being fascinated by how it depicted Mars, which, at the time, was just as plausible as anything science could predict at that time. But the story, dialogue and acting is so cheesy and terrible that it can only be rated in the Plan 9 from Outer Space universe. But of course the context of the times has to be kept in mind, with Sputnik just two years old and science fiction being the realm of the fantastic. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing this remade complete with rat spider bats and jello blobs.

Interesting Sci-fi from the 50's but the effect look REAL BAD now although in the theater back then we were scared Shirtless.

Giant bat spider was hilarious, ridiculous and terrifying all at the same time. Very confused lol.

Despite a decent cast, this 50s entry was poorly written and is neither exciting, suspenseful or that interesting. The red filter used on the camera lens while exploring on Mars was unique, but that alone does not compensate for this cheesy effort.

A bit generic, but an interesting sci-fi film. It's slow, and not a lot really happens, but it has neat cinematography and characters, plus some fun monster effects. Otherwise, it's just a bland steady ride with a cheap moral.
