Follow That Bird (1985)

Big Bird is sent to live far from Sesame Street by a pesky social worker, who thinks it would be better for him to live with other birds. Unhappy, Big Bird runs away from his foster home, prompting the rest of the Sesame Street gang to go on a cross-country journey to find him.

I see it a social commentary about family being based primarily on love, and not blood or being of the same race.

this is the first movie i ever saw in the theatre....i just remember being so sad when big bird was separated from his family and friends on sesame street

Beautiful movie. Sesame Street and the Muppets rule. How funny, tender, entertaining and educative they are! I loved the scene where they tributed the plane chasing from North by Nothwest.

Follow That Bird isn’t really the most memorable movie in terms of music or storyline—there’s a reason you don’t remember any of the songs from the movie like you do the ones from Sesame Street, the show—but it contains moments, both comical and tragic, that are absolutely indelible.

This was and still is one of my favorite movies. Where else are you going to find a movie with the Grouch National Anthem and Waylen Jennings singings a song that gives a good confidence boost (Ain't No Mountain). It's hilarious! Really you can never go wrong with a Jim Henson flick.
