As far as political melodramas go, this is brilliantly cynical and bleak.

Flamingo Road is an incredible film. It is about a small town corrupt sheriff who manipulates local candidates to the state legislature, but he eventually comes into conflict with an out-of-town carnival dancer. Joan Crawford and Zachary Scott give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written. Michael Curtiz did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Flamingo Road is a must see.

This isn't the best film to showcase Joan Crawford's talents, but there is still enough here to entertain. Her nice persona just doesn't shine the same way her bitchy one does. Still her toughness is an attribute to this pseudo-noir.
