Ultimately, Fear Street is a shiny and expensive super-cut of callbacks and needle-drops. It is cool but empty horror worship.

This just went on too long. It was a single film spread over a trilogy but each new part offered nothing new so watching all three back-to-back became a total chore. I think watching them a month or two apart would make them more enjoyable. But that wasn’t my experience, my experience was over 5 hours of Fear Street which has a rather weak lore, forgettable characters somewhat salvaged by great acting, fairly average horror but generally high production value. My gripes are consistent throughout the films, this one was the least convincing for the time period, it felt like modern values and language with vintage clothes and some stereotypical medieval words. It’s frustrating for me to watch these three films and see no real development and because of this they get less and less engaging and therefore less entertaining. This is probably more disappointing than Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning (2004). The drug binge in the forest was ripped completely from Skins 3.08 (2009) but without the great music, emotional backdrop, character development etc.

A trilogia ganha mais um novo tom, e diria até com um tom político ao revisitar histórias de terror que se entrelaçam com a nossa própria história. O salto temporal é o melhor e parece que estamos assistindo a dois filmes quando ocorre um determinado corte.

Just when I thought the first one was bottom of barrel for movies they aimed even higher (or lower). Simplest way to describe is a woke romance film that is so forced and fake feeling; it leaves you sighing and rolling eyes. 5 mins into the movie; you can already predict where its going. Slasher it is not. Add in all the historic in-accuracies and blunders; a lackluster cast of pure unlikeable and fake feeling "npcs". I've seen better acting in video games. Sigh... There is a great story hidden under all this garbage.

1666 mostly operates in a different register than 1994 and 1978, but is no less entertaining. It rounds off an ambitious triptych chock-full of horror-history allusions, strong world-building, sharp scares, palatable gore, lively filmmaking and a likeable set of characters. Other scary-movie franchises take note.
