Eight Below (2006)

In the Antarctic, after an expedition with Dr. Davis McClaren, the sled dog trainer Jerry Shepherd has to leave the polar base with his colleagues due to the proximity of a heavy snow storm. He ties his dogs to be rescued after, but the mission is called-off and the dogs are left alone at their own fortune. For six months, Jerry tries to find a sponsor for a rescue mission.

?his movie is great with such a touching story. Cinematography and scenes are really beautiful! The story is very emotional especially when you consider that is based on a true story. I cried like a baby all during the movie and couldn't stop even after. This movie is great for adults, animal lovers and even kids because even though the implications are there, there's no blood or other gory details. I recommend this movie to anyone especially all those animal lovers, it reminds me of another movie I love also, Hachiko. May the acting was nothing out of the ordinary, however, this movie is a must watch. I have already watched it 4 times...

Buckets of tears I cried while watching this movie! As a dedicated pet owner I felt so bad for the protagonist Jerry. I could easily identify myself with him. A big praise goes to the dog trainers who made this movie possible and the 16 sweet beautiful husky dogs that were featured in this flick. Blue-eyed angels they are. Even my lovely cat Sirius moved his ears in curiosity while lying next to the screen and hearing these dogs talking. Wonderful animals. I love you all. Must see for ALL people who love pets more than humans, just as myself.

Throughout the movie I couldn't help think about the great dog training. The Huskies were all wonderful and the stars of the movie. I realize that Eight Below is inspired by a true story, but the movie is well written and the story hands together from beginning to end. By the way, my wife and I have two Huskies. We were both teary eyed through much of the movie as were other movie goers. But you don't have to have Huskies or dogs as pets to enjoy this movie. No gratuitous sex or violence, no profanity, but a heart tugging story of survival against all odds. The scenery was beautiful to experience on the big screen, the acting is good and this is a great movie for the entire family. I can't wait to see the movie again. It's a wonderful, clean, wholesome family movie.
