Notables from every country are gathered here in your honor. This is a gala day for you. Well, a gal a day is enough for me. I don't think I could handle any more. Three men and one woman are trapped in a building! Send help at once! If you can't send help, send two more women!

There is an odd moment when Harpo shows Groucho a doghouse tattooed on his stomach, and in a special effect a real dog emerges and barks at him. The brothers broke the classical structure of movie comedy and glued it back again haphazardly, and nothing was ever the same.

The Marx Brothers' best movie. How can you top that?

I've seen a lot of Marx Brothers movie, and while they're all entertaining (and very funny) this film stands head and shoulders above all their others. Considering that they were stars in the 20's and 30's, it's quite mind boggling to see them get away with so much. By that, I'm not only talking about their jokes (many of which could still be considered offensive), but also their film's message. While most of their films didn't have overt messages (although they did stand for anarchy and rebellion when such activities were actively suppressed) Duck Soup goes so far as taking on fascism, war and politics in 1933. This is a truly daring and funny movie.

The Marx Brothers throw every gag in the book up at the screen and most of it sticks, and all of it is anchored by Margaret "The Fifth Marx Brother" Dumont's embattled straight (wo)man. The lemonade stand, the battle scenes and especially the mirror gag are the stuff of comic legend.
