A possibly near-perfect war drama that treads a thin line between art and propaganda. However, a great final shot is replaced by a message asking me to buy war bonds.

it's amazing to see a movie about a war as it's happening. shows importance of strong, supportive communities. movie highlighted with the Dunkirk rescue. the sermon given at a bombed church was so powerful it was used in leaflets dropped over western Europe to motivate and inspire resistance groups

Classic indeed. Not your average WWII film as it follows a mother, wife through WWII and how she kept her family going. Also this film was made in 1942 as the war was going on.
