Ah yes... I saw this film when I was only a kid, say about 9-10 years old and I have never forgotten it! It is really scary in parts, especially when.... Well I'm not going to tell you, but my god watch this film. A classic film. I forgot the name of it for years and then this year I found it. I will buy it at some point.

a decent horror film although id call it more of a creature film and del toro i believe refers to it as well as being that . The movies pacing and acting are all pretty well done and i like how we get to see the creatures early on yet not a complete look . to me the whole wait to the last 10 min of the movie to show the monster or monster's in this case has worn out its welcom a long long long time ago. sure it was great in jaws but movies like super 8 and cloverfield where you never ever really get a nice good look at the creature always disappoints me even at the end its always abit murky of a view. the plot is told well and thats usally another thing in theese movies is that they are just full of plot holes and most of the stuff is just never explained like in say cloverfield's case none of it is. this movie atleast left me feeling ok i understood whats all goin on hear at the end. i mean this move didnt break any ground and its nothing id really want to wach again any time soon but its fairly entertaining and worth a rental.

An effectively creepy TV-movie with an attractive cast and simple but worthwhile premise. You'll have to stomp through the usual cheesy horror tropes (disbelieving husband/friends, bumps in the night, the "creatures" being less frightening when actually seen) but the ending is splendidly horrid and Kim Darby is a sweet and innocent victim you'll believe is being terrorized by these supernatural creepers!

A decent movie with a good premise. It looks and feels really dated, but it has decent acting and there are a lot of really creepy scenes. The biggest issue, however, is that while many horror movies over explain to the point of it not being scary, this one doesn't explain enough. What are these creatures? Where did they come from? Who sealed them up? Why do they seem to know the old guy and refer to him by name? Why do they need anyone's spirit? So much was left open to debate that it was hard to be scared due to how vague the monster was. You could come up with literally any justification and it would make sense since we aren't even given enough hints to piece anything together. In the end it is worth a watch if you can find it, despite its' flaws.

Made for TV movie from the 70's about to get a glossy makeover. For a TV movie, this is wonderful stuff. They keep the number of characters low, use just a handful of settings, and concentrate on developing a twisted little atmosphere. It was complete in 2 weeks, but you could never tell. The little creatures are eerie and original without being comical. Things are whispered, things are moved, people are attacked, but it carries it off by keeping most things low key. The use of simple panning shots and quiet editing, makes it a film that builds tension with ease. If you are open to less obvious horror, with a love of practical effects, you should find a lot in this mini-treat.
