After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle, famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria's England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. It’s a dull, plodding retread with new souped-up VFX that’s deeply uninvolving.

Horrible, 'unfinished' film and a sour note to Downey after a successful run as Iron Man. I am not really sure where they spend all their moneys on. Talking animals may work on animation, but pulling it in live action is quite difficult. Universal attempts to outdo Disney in this respect and failed miserably. Even so, the always dependable Downey is horrible. His choice of English accent made his barely intelligible. Let's also not talk about the so called 'climax' of the film. It is not as bad as it sounds, yet it reeks of desperation by the film makers, who are at this point throw everything but the kitchen sink to make this film 'work'. It didn't.

I honestly enjoyed this movie,ALL PARTS OF IT, for it was interesting, unique and colorful. For those haters and "critics" out there, it is such a shame that your senses of entertainment and humor are not AT ALL functioning.

i watched it recently and it is of course not of Oscar quality but it didn't pretend to be. It's basically a fun family oriented movie with good special effects and 2 hrs of fun. for those who overthink and over analyse movies, best to stay at home, save your money and watch it online.
