An enjoyable sci-fi horror film. Yes in 1989 you had three under water movies; leviathan, deep star six, and the abyss. They were all different films so can't be compared. The sea creature in this one is so funny looking you will laugh watching it kill a few peoples. Oh and did I meantion that Nia Peeples is in this film, oh yea that's right!

A dull, routine action-adventure in which the suspense is mechanical at best. Although there are a couple of gory moments, those expecting the jolts director Sean Cunningham brought to the original "Friday the 13th" are sure to be disappointed.

An intense but tiresome underwater version of ''Alien,'' following a Navy crew that uncovers a sea serpent 6 miles deep in the ocean. The women are aggressive; one man is a wimp. But strip away the film`s clean underwater look and you have a predictable monster movie.

One of the better of the slew of underwater disaster/horror films that clogged movie houses in the late 80's, with acceptable special effects, a decent cast of mostly TV personnel, and some involving action scenes and a gaggle of suitably gory deaths perpetrated by a giant, very unfriendly crab-cousin who delights in making California Rolls out of most of the characters. "B J and the Bear"'s Greg Evigan is a likable hero, and Miguel Ferrer steals the whole thing as he mercilessly chomps the scenery as a VERY high-strung and neurotic crew member. I vastly prefer this over James Cameron's much-lauded, over-rated and over-long "The Abyss".
