Though it does have a good cast and a few decent set pieces it completely pales in comparison to the first film and it is utterly pointless.

Ok so lets take a movie that ended with little to no possibility for a sequel...and make a sequel. Ultimately an un-needed movie that really doesn't even make sense. The boat was seconds away from sinking in the first and now its still afloat...i don't get it. NO likeable characters like the first and a stupid new plot. There are also guns for some reason. While not all bad I would only recommend it to die-hard fans of the original...but even then its hard to stomach.

wow umn just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch.....its got a good cast of actors/actressess throughout this movie....i think that michael caine, sally field, peter boyle, shirley knight, jack warden, telly savalas, shirley jones, karl malden, slim pickens play good roles/parts throughout this movie......i think that the director of this disaster/sequel/follw-up/drama/adventure movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie.......i think that this is a good sequel/follow-up movie 2 watch...i think that michael caine, peter boyle are brilliant thorughout this movie...i think that this is a good adventure movie its enjoyable movie 2 watch

What's beyond the Poseidon Adventure? Nonsense. Beyond the Poseidon Adventure is an unnecessary sequel with a stupid plot which wasted the talent a great cast and made them look terrible. The idea of getting in to see what's inside of a collapsing ship was preposterous; the first movie works because there are people trying to find a way out, doing the opposite is foolish. The only reason for making this picture was money, I can't find another valid explanation.
