Day of the Dead is the second weakest movie after Daen of the Dead, I saw in Night of the Living Dead trilogy. There's nothing new in this 1hr 40min movie. There's just talking and talking and talking, nothing else. Movie is pointless and sloppy that drags on and on. There were so many unnecessary scenes and there were some places when a better scene could have been added. It looks like the director had no idea, what to make after 1st movie was so good. The acting was also normal, looked forceful. I don't know why people liked this movie, might be their brain stopped working just like zombies. Overall, I expected something good from this part after getting disappointed from 2nd part but no. This was the same level except it has less running time (Thank God for that) and it's story was bareable.

Here, a pessimistic Romero dares to tackle the very essence of man’s inhumanity to man. And in the end, Day of the Dead is every bit as compelling and unsettling as its more lauded predecessors.

In the earlier films, we really identified with the small cadre of surviving humans. They were seen as positive characters, and we cared about them. This time, the humans are mostly unpleasant, violent, insane or so noble that we can predict with utter certainty that they will survive.

The only thing redeemable about this movie was the last 25 minutes. Everything before that was just an utter bore. The constant overacting, The bland characters and the failure to take advantage of the premise of being stuck in a close-quarters area surrounded by zombies. It was very disappointing for me and honestly, If it wasn't for the ending, This would be a 0 in my book.

The third installment of Romero's "Dead" franchise, Day of the Dead, is an entertaining, enjoyable, gory, darkly comic, and fun take on the zombie franchise. With more updated special effects and make-up than its predecessors, it is a delight for zombie flick aficionados with its much more gory take. However, the characters were deeply underdeveloped and the acting was a little too exaggerated at times that it gets annoying, especially during the first end second acts. The third act is where the big payoff happens, but even that is lacking a bit of closure. Overall, this is still an enjoyable flick, and better than Dawn of the Dead when it comes to it.
