A film only 18 years old that is destined to be a legendary classic. The performances are masterful, the plot is heartfelt and excels, and Scott does his greatest work as a director. A visually stunning picture that deserved it's oscar-wins!

One of my favorite movies of all time. Russell Crowe plays Maximus ridiculously well (not that surprising) but I was absolutely amazed at Joaquin Phoenix as the emperor (this guy is was underrated). A good ole hard hitting violence filled action packed movie.

I can't believe it took me this long to properly watch this movie! I think I saw parts of it a long time ago when it was on TV, but it bored me and I didn't understand the storyline but now that I am older (!) and more mature (!) and can appreciate /real/ cinema (lmao!), I just loved this movie. It was epic, wise, philosophical at times, profound, gory, action-y, intense, romantic, immoral etc. Actually, this would make a good "Game of Thrones" substitution fix - epic lines, although Russell Crowe called some of them cheesy - and lots of really well done action sequences. I should just go on Ridley Scott movie watching spree tbh. I feel like he can seriously do no wrong.
