Could have been better, could have been much much worse but it's the farthest thing from the worst superhero movie fox has ever put out. The acting and the action sequences really make this movie watchable, it does alot of dumb stuff narrative wise and you can tell the director was in over his head and that the studio didn't care but it's not that bad.

This was not a bad film. Not the best either, had a great time watching the last of the X-Men films. Its sad to close the book on this beloved franchise but everything has to come to an end.

I just finished watching the movie a second time and I really adore it. There is a seductive beauty to every scene and I found all character motivations convincing. Especially, the socio-political subtext is timely and very well done. in a nutshell: access for minorities is only granted through politics of respectability. The action set pieces are also probably the best the series had so far. The X-Men finally fight as a team. Unfortunately, some scenes felt quite rushed and I wished the movie would have been longer. I do not understand why the length is so short. Jessica Chastain's character is the weakest link and underused. But all in all Dark Phoenix surprisingly became one of my favorite X-Men movies and is close behind X-Men 2, Days of Future Past, & Logan in my ranking. I am very irritated why so many critics online feel the need for articulating such harsh and hyperbolic reactions.

For a series supposedly dedicated to the pleasure of superhero movies, Dark Phoenix somehow ends up illustrating their limits.

I will not say this film is the worst of X series, in my humble opinion "Apocalypse" still the worst, I enjoyed visually but the story messed my mind especially when Raven killed!! How she appeared in old versions as a Rebecca Romijn!! Are they planning to produce X-Men: Endgame in the future!? I just feel that "Dark Phoenix" not related to X series. In addition, I felt I was watching a "Captain Marvel" but with a different story, where Jean has almost the same power of Captain Marvel and the way that she gets the power it's almost same.
