Dante's Peak (1997)

Volcanologist Harry Dalton comes to the sleepy town of Dante's Peak to investigate the recent rumblings of the dormant volcano the burg is named for. Before long, his worst fears are realized when a massive eruption hits, and immediately, Harry, the mayor and the townspeople find themselves fighting for their lives amid a catastrophic nightmare.

If you like romance, drama, and action. It's all here. Excitement every ounce even the romantic sceen.

I liked this movie, there were REAL special effects, it looks a lot more real than its rival "Volcano", and the volcano is based on Mt. St. Helens.

I absolutely love "Dante's Peak", It's so much fun and exciting, yes its your typical 90's disaster flick but it works so much for me. Pierce Brosnan did a Amazing job and same with Linda Hamilton. Roger Donaldson did a really good job directing. The FX was really good and the locations looked stunning. This film is a great film to escape to and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
