I really loved this movie, and for countless reasons. The thing that most struck me however is that generally I find myself feeling akin to Foster's character, though I myself am not purely science minded and do happen to believe in God. I found myself coming away from this film not more eager for the pursuit of 'little green men' but feeling quite strongly that perhaps what this film showed me was that the pursuit of understanding ourselves and our own kind is more important. Especially if one day we are to meet with ones beyond the stars, how are we to explain ourselves if we don't understand our own history and basest motivations.

My favorite film! --identify so much with Ellie Arroway! (lost my father in 1980, and until then, he was instrumental in helping my locate alternative ways of being in this universe! --I'd love to travel through wormholes and see my father again! --more importantly, he'd see me as an adult.... Yes; I suspect there's other life throughout the universe! --indeed, "limited fork theory" which hopes for some form of connection with anything that exists or existed or that ever can exist on any scale in any location hopes to connect with some forms of existence somewhere, anywhere. Jodie Foster was excellent in this tim, but then again, I'm biased... Absolutely love it! --and absolutely love my father....
