A beautiful young woman with every privilege except freedom. A despised older man with nothing except his obsession. Are they the key to one another's salvation? Or are they destined to destroy each other and themselves? Having just finished a degree at Cambridge, Anjika Indrani has the world at her feet. However when her father announces that he intends for her to marry the son of his business associate, Anjika is angry and distraught at the unfairness of it. Then help is offered from an unlikely corner. Her father's sinister chauffeur Don Flowers proposes a way out… but it comes at a cost.

A fantastic opportunity, to look into the clash of social ethics from two different societies in the modern world brings an in-depth look at arranged marriages. The direction and acting are electric with the emotions and feelings having a sharp edge due to the tension of the story. Music is unusual yet, conveys a lot of depth adding to the sexual apprehension. Nibbles: Indian Curry.

Strangely compelling tale of mismatched romance and class prejudice. Ray Winstone plays the chauffeur to a wealthy Indian family who is drawn in to a dangerous and unlikely affair with the over-protected daughter. Just when you're wondering how on earth it can possibly end well, it ends badly, not so much with a twist in the tale as a stab in the gut. The acting wavers and some of the performances are downright amateurish, but then that's probably only by comparison to Winstone, who's the magnetic heart of this film with a perfectly judged performance.

This movie was kind of like a train wreck... a perverted train wreck with unicorns. I really didn't know who to root for because everyone had the potential to, (and ultimately displayed), both a dark side and something slightly resembling a moral core. I think that's why I'm pretty sure that I loved this movie. There is definitely something dirty and wrong about it, and that's the draw. After you see what the characters do to, and for, each other - there are really no surprises. So, when you are left there blinking at a love/rape/stabbing scene you have no choice but to dig it completely and move on. Sometimes when I refuse to sleep at night I am rewarded for my stubbornness in the form of a film that is a love story on heavy heavy medication, or, I am just a total perv with sleep deprivation. Either way this movie made my night.
