A poignant, tender story about all kinds of loss and the gaps between us. Beautifully filmed in Columbus, Indiana. Loved Haley Lu Richardson's performance.

The movie is beautiful without wasting its time on cliched beauty. Kogonada, who edited as well as wrote and directed, collaborates intuitively with cinematographer Elisha Christian, who’s as good with faces as he is with sharp modernist edges etched in concrete.

Director Kogonada, in his impressive debut, conveys emotion through site and sound. He turns out to be a master of not just visual setting, but of conversational filmmaking, and his "Columbus" might just be a masterpiece

The indie cinema has gained another masterful director and this is right on the top of my choices for 2017. I stumbled onto this film by mistake but found the critical acclaim not an easy thing to ignore. The film is wonderfully shot with a filmmaker beginning his career with something most studio filmmakers could only dream to make. The film never betrays the characters with a forced storyline that didn't fit, it's just a true film with interesting characters attempting to discover themselves. I'm happy to say this is one of the best films of 2017 in my books. 15/01/2018.
