Loved this movie. It was realistic, sincere, funny and very powerful. I doubt I will see a better movie this year. Every element used in the film hit you with such emotional weight. This was not an extravagant plot by any means, but the movie was perfection. I don't think I saw a misstep in the film at all. This film goes right on the top shelf so to speak.

Wonderful movie to celebrate St Patrick's Day with... Very touching! A must see for those who have left their mother country and have made America home.

If Brooklyn and Saoirse Ronan do not win an Oscar then the "awards" are a fraud. This is what film making is about and not the mostly junk that is produced by Hollywood and beyond.

I like how the character's aren't one sided. At one point, you'll actually end up disliking Ellis, but that's good because the conflict she's in is realistic enough that you would end up disliking her for what she was doing.

Full of heart and truthful, magnificently acted by the principals. Excellent writing and directing. A time period perfectly rendered with a single anachronism.
