Rick Heller is a juvenile delinquent who keeps getting himself into trouble. To keep him out of trouble his mother puts him to work cleaning the cage of a gorilla named Katie which she is teaching to communicate through the use of sign language. When the owner of the gorilla takes her back to become a flea market freak Rick takes it upon himself to break Katie out and take her on an adventurous journey to get her out of the country.

Great movie from my childhood. I'll admit, though, that the last time I watched this movie was when I was about 8 years old, and I never knew that gorilla wasn't a real gorilla. That fact, of course, was readily apparent this time around, but it may have added a new element of amusement for me as I saw how obviously fake the gorilla was. However, despite the second-rate gorilla effects, the human actions of the gorilla, and especially the interactions between the gorilla and Rick are still amazingly hilarious. The "emotional" ending of the movie is another downside, but the rest of the script just keeps the laughs coming. The two cops are great, as well. Most definitely worth watching.

the only part i remember in this movie was when the song born to be wild is playing when they are driving in the van... but i do remember something about this movie is sad?

Very few movies about teens and animals that befriend them are amusing. This one is but still nothing spectacular.
