Born Free (1966)

At a national park in Kenya, English game warden George Adamson and his wife, Joy, care for three orphaned lion cubs. After the two larger lions are shipped off to a zoo in the Netherlands, the smallest of the three, Elsa, stays with the couple. When Elsa is blamed for causing an elephant stampede in the nearby village, head warden John Kendall demands the young lion either be trained to survive in the wilds of the Serengeti or be sent to a zoo.

I have not seen this movie since guess 1987....and when I saw it yesterday, I felt good again....."Born Free" is a tale of courage and love, nature and human nature, and a relationship unlike any other that you've ever seen.....hugely popular when released, the film still has the power to move....a great feel-good movie for the whole family...

It's a story of a lioness raised by humans and then set free to fend for herself in the wild. She nearly dies. It is an an academy award winner for good reason. I cried.

out of thid film came the Born Free foundation, a film that captured my heart when i was a child and still makes me cry all those years later.

I watched this when I was about 10.. when most girls wanted a pony, I wanted lion curtains in my room... I don't remember much of it but I remember I was infactuated, with the books especially.
