Blood for Dracula (1974)

Deathly ill Count Dracula and his slimy underling, Anton, travel to Italy in search of a virgin's blood. They're welcomed at the crumbling estate of indebted Marchese Di Fiore, who's desperate to marry off his daughters to rich suitors. But there, instead of pure women, the count encounters incestuous lesbians with vile blood and Marxist manservant Mario, who's suspicious of the aristocratic Dracula.

What? Utterly bizarre and funny. The acting is terrible (some purposefully, some not so) and I loved the weird range of accents... New York, Italian, British, French(?), some sort of Eastern European, German, and of course "Hollywood Transylvanian." Seems like there is some message I'm not getting about communism and the decline of aristocracy that is interestingly portrayed as bad on all sides... I mean the New York/Commie grounds keeper is the plot's "hero" yet he violently rapes women. What?? Dracula loves his sister, etc but enjoys feasting on blood. Still don't know what to think of this campy film.

The Count searches Catholic Italy for "wirgin's" (that's virgin's) blood and encounters a family with four daughters who claim to be good pure girls, but in reality all but one of them has been sleeping with the gardener (who reminds me of Vanilla Ice!). Dracula throws up every time he encounters tainted blood and thereby discovers the family have been less than truthful. I wanted to like Udo Kier, he has a great look for a vampire, unfortunately any good acting is hidden very very deep in this film.

Possibly the best/most ridiculous dracula movie ever!! Udo is as usual, amazing.
