Matthew Modine plays Birdy, a sensitive soul who has been emotionally/mentally destroyed after his stint in Vietnam and is in an institution. Nicholas Cage is his army friend who has been facially disfigured and has come to try to help Birdy out of his trance-like state. A moving story of friendship, war and personal loss. I'd highly recommend this.

I think this is a really nice movie about two men who were friends for a long time and didn't stop even though one got sick, it's a great movie about standing by your friends

despite its release date, it's an convincing movie, with 2 excellent leading roles.. - good OST by peter gabirel !
