Brilliant film. It's great to see a Vietnam film told from a different perspective, and Robin Williams is in his element as a fast talking DJ. The famous "what a wonderful world" scene is amazing. Only criticism is the somewhat uneccessary and underdeveloped love story plot, but the rest of the movie is good enough to make up for it.

This portrayal of the Vietnam War not only reminds of the the good ol' boys out there fighting for us, it also achieves a great blend of drama and comedy without coming off as either preachy or cartoonish. A masterpiece of wit and laughs with a dramatic edge is performed with masterful precision by none other than Robin Williams.

I find this movie so funny yet heartbreaking. Such atrocities happened in Vietnam. America was robbed of so many young men during that time. The film quite subtly shows how dehumanizing the military can be.

I loved the whole concept of changing, what was a serious and challenging time in Vietnam during the 60's, and making the vibes more positive and feel-good with the power of music and humor. And not only for the Americans in Vietnam, but for everyone, including the innocent Vietnamese. That Sergeant Major is one ruthless bastard. I think its bullshit how they're trying to censor the real stuff that's happening. And the general is one awesome son of a gun. Makes me wish he was my boss and everyone else's. Pairing the song, 'What a Wonderful World', to the scenes the were being shown, I thought was brilliant. Playing the song, which is such a lovely and beautiful song, and contrasting to scenes of chaos, horror, and violence was something very insightful to watch. Pretty inspiring. Seeing Robin Williams in action was quite a treat and seeing him do some on the spot improv shows how great of a performer he really is. Overall, great film with laughs and harsh realities.
