Battle in Heaven (2005)

Set in Mexico City, Carlos Reygadas's sexually explicit drama centers on a man in turmoil over his past actions. Chauffer Marcos feels compelled to reveal a dark secret to his boss's daughter, Ana, a wealthy woman who works as a prostitute just for the thrill of it. Marcos confesses that he and his wife committed a crime that ended in horrible tragedy. Haunted by his past, Marcos searches for redemption.

A gutty flick, how I like it, the 2nd time I watched it, it was not so interesting, I was blinking.

My pick for the greatest film of this decade. There is no light between the personal, the political, the religious, the cinematic and the Mexico in this film. Bunuel would have been proud.

If you can deal with the laborious pacing you'll be in for an unusual visual treat, as the canvas for an interesting sequence of events. A stylized day-in-the-life story of an ordinary working stiff in Mexico City. But how ordinary is he?

This had some great shots in it. I like that he used real crowds in many of the shots, and I love the long takes. This was great at showing a man lost in the world and not knowing how to handle it. But the sex scenes kind of put me off of this. "What? Sex scenes put you off?" Yeah, see them and know what i'm talking about. I kept expecting random CU shots of the guy's dick to appear on screen at any given moment, which kind of ruined my viewing enjoyment. It felt like it was being overly graphic just for the sake of being graphic. But some people go for that thing. I don''t judge.

jajajajajajaja, le realisateur manque pas de choquer son public. Moi J'aime deja rien que pour l'ambiance de Mexico dans des quartiers et lieux pleins de souvenirs personels. Pour le reste, le debat sur filmer une felation explicite est il un art? Moi je me delecte du debat autour de ce detail
