i love this movie, but i think i should say that the synopsis says Henry finds evidence of adultry, when in reality he fabricated evidence of adultry.

A lusty and powerful movie about Henry VIII and his romance (and eventual troubled marriage) to Anne Boleyn. Richard Burton is superb in his role as Henry--a besotted man in his early 40's desperate to have a male heir to leave his kingdom to. Genevieve Bujold plays her part with skill and courage as the woman (Anne Boleyn) who plots her way to Henry's bed and as his queen. The dynamics at court and the different players and their schemes weave a dangerous web with tragic consequences! A movie to watch over and over again.

Excellent and possibly definitive telling of the Henry VIII & Anne Boleyn story. Genevieve Bujold certainly portrays Anne brilliantly, while Richard Burton does a pretty good job on the King.

The performances (by Burton and Bujold in the leads) are good, but the film is dull, overly long, and overwrought--the kind of British Royalty picture that impresses Oscar voters.
