Against All Odds (1984)

Having been cut from his professional football team, down-and-out athlete Terry Brogan is in desperate need of money. Crooked nightclub owner and bookie Jake Wise offers Terry a hefty sum to go to Mexico and find his girlfriend, Jessie Wyler. Terry cannot turn the offer down. When Terry locates Jessie, the two fall in love. Terry reports that he failed to find her, but Jake sends someone else. Terry and Jessie's love must endure unexpected twists.

Iz nekog razloga sam vjerovala da je ovo vise romanticni film nego neka akcijska drama. Nisam pretjerano zadovoljna i cak sam nakon sat i pol odustala gledati, samo sam ubrzala do kraja da vidim razvoj situacije. Naporan mi je, a Jeff je tako dooobar :)

Why do I love this movie? The music, the fast-lane life, the beach.... it's all so sexy despite the 80's hair-dos.

Not a patch on the original. This is more like a poor run-of-the-mill TV movie. Although Jeff Bridges and James Woods are excellent, the script is useless - there's no suspense. The story is just weak and implausible. They would have done better to have stuck closer to the original. What made "Out of the Past" such a great movie was Jane Greer's Femme Fatale - as the film progresses you gradually realise what a bitch she is, and just how ruthless she is. In this film, Rachel Ward's character is just a spoilt, hysterical rich kid.

Jeff Bridges can pursue me anytime. I like this film (especially Bridges) but its a bit flat after all this time.

What is sacrifice?? Better yet, would you run away from everything to protect someone you love?? Never thought of such question before i saw this movie and nowadays its get me thinking. Back then i liked the movie cause of the club scene..."Curiosity". Damn good movie i believe never got the credit it deserves.
