The drama really came into its own when we saw Julie outside the pressure cooker of the family environment and interacting with the people her daughter's death led her to encounter.

And while some of the script felt as though it had been lifted from Julie's book, rather than anything anyone would actually say, you still couldn't argue with the power of it.
