While it probably isn't as funny as the material it's cover, the period and self parody work well and there's something fascinating about watching these modern comedians portraying their idols.

The funniest movie I've ever seen where I cried a little at the end. This is a beautiful movie.

Cleverly written. Funny dry one liners are hilarious. Even if you don't care or know anything about National Lampoon's and what it was, you would still enjoy the movie. I recommend it, and I don't recommend movies. I don't like most movies and can only watch them from a analytical point of view and can no longer suspend reality and escape like most people. So no need to suspends reality to enjoy this well written story telling of a movie.

A Futile and Stupid Gesture does right by the late genius of Doug Kenney.

Taking some cues from American Splendor, a fun little movie with a killer cast and a wildly postmodern sensibility. Doesn't avoid all the pitfalls of the biopic, but worth a watch, especially for the early bits that take place at the Lampoon.
