A remarkable achievement, given its helping hand in abolishing the death penalty in Poland. What makes this special is the way it makes you grieve for a truly despicable man as he trundles to his inevitable murder by the state. A brilliant, haunting film!

It's graphic but conveys a good message

This film is to cinema what Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment is to literature

A brutal film. That will you will never forget. Kieslowski's finest.
