The Abandoned (2006)

Marie, a film producer, returns to her native Russia to find her birth parents. She quickly learns they are dead, and she has inherited their long-empty farmhouse. At the farm, she meets Nicolai, who claims to be her twin brother. Events take a terrifying turn when the two spot a pair of ghastly doppelgangers and the house itself seems to propel them toward a fate they should have met 40 years earlier.

This movie was very creepy indeed. It doesn't get a 5 from me because of how the movie was somewhat confusing, even at the end when it was supposed to be tied together.

Easily one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Like the incredibly overrated SILENT HILL, this borrows heavily from Fulci's THE BEYOND and CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD. Director Nacho Cerda (who made the vastly different but equally memorable AFTERMATH) creates an atmosphere of dread that builds steadily to the nightmarish climax. One of the ten best horror films of the 21st century so far...
