Directed by Robert (Freddy Krueger) Englund himself and starring the geeky friend from Fright Night, 976-EVIL is--as you might suspect from its pedigree--a trashy late-80s horror film that never really knows where it wants to be scary or just farcical. It plays like the later Nightmare on Elm Street films and even features a character who kills others with his satanically clawed hands. The film's plot is basic: an occult horoscope (or "horrorscope") line allows one bullied young man to get revenge upon his tormentors and his abusively Christian mother. Dumb and predictable, 976-EVIL is highly entertaining for those who enjoy trashy 80s horror cinema, but everyone else should stay away.

Incredibly stupid, unoriginal, and boring piece of shit directed by Robert Englund. Thank God, he never directed any more films, cause this badly acted piece of shit is atrocious. There is not even enough gore. About all I can say is the cute blonde shows her tits. That's it...

A horror flick directed by Freddy Kreuger himself, Robert Englund, and co-written by Brian Helgeland, who would later go on to write some Oscar worthy films like "Mystic River" and "LA Confidential." This film is certainly not of that calibre of filmmaking, but it does offer some decent bits of horror here and there. It won't be the best horror film you've ever seen, but it's enjoyable in a Charles Band sort of way.

It gets a whole star because it seemed to run the length of a movie, go editors! ...and because the director was Freddy Krueger. that's all that seems merit worthy to me.
