LOVE THIS! Haha, it's so old and sort of corny, but it's truly scary in that you never see the "scary parts."

Based on a Shirley Jackson story, The Haunting of Hill House. This is the best haunted house you'll ever see on film--even better than The House on Haunted Hill, or The Haunted Palace, or The Fall of the House of Usher--and that's mostly because of the exquisite reactions by an amazing cast. Especially Julie Harris as the house's primary target.

Paranormal Activity, eat your heart out! The Haunting is how a paranormal movie should be done. You never know whether it's the ghosts doing, or Eleanor's insanity. And it has all the scares. Jump scares, atmosphere, psychological, the works. If you want a good ghost story, this is the place to go!

Where modern horror movies are all special effects and scenes designed to make you jump, this gives you no effects, apart from creepy camera angles and lighting. Not many moments to make you jump. But boy does it creep you out and shows that leaving most things to the audiences imagination makes a scarier movie. Brilliant performances from all the cast, but most especially Julie Harris. Highly recommended. Watch with the light off!

What I love about this film is that it's creepy as hell and there is NOTHING in the entire film that you ever see...it's all sounds and the way the film was shot. True brilliance, and Julie Harris kicks ass!
