I like it. A classical chinese fairy tale movie about a hero and a legend

Bit of tricky one to judge. At first glance, the storyline is pretty interesting - Donnie Yen plays a kind of secret agent/assasin for the emperor in ancient China. Long story short the Emperor tries to set him up and Yen goes on a rampage - the details of what follows in between are actually kind of hard to follow. For the first 20 minutes of the film, a lot of the scenes seem disjointed, jumping between flashbacks and random locations that only really make sense when you've been watching for at least an hour. Visually this feature does not dissapoint, as always we are treated to stunning location shots, beautiful landscapes and the odd palace heere and there. The fight scenes are pretty decent but are not as smooth as say 'Ip Man' - nevertheless the Chinese never fail in showing their Martial Arts with inspired shots and mesmerising routines. Overall an interesting piece but not the best Donnie Yen has to offer.

Enjoyable martial arts/wu xia action adventure starring Donnie Yen. May be not his best (difficult to surpass Ip Man or Wu Xia), but above average with a delectable concoction of action and romance.

the swordfights were pretty well choreographed and the martial arts display was fast-paced. the only thing lacking here is a solid story; the one presented in the show was only an excuse to showcase the action - and selling the show on action alone is too huge a gamble to make.
