Zulu est un thriller efficace, qui parvient a faire oublier une ouverture proche de la catastrophe et des personnages franchement clichetons grace a une direction habile, des performances (Forest Whitaker et Orlando Bloom sont parfaits, comme d'habitude) qui transcendent l'ecriture un peu faiblarde de cette grosse machine qui possede quelques scenes d'action particulierement bien filmees. Une belle surprise.

J'aime beaucoup ce film, j'avais déjà beaucoup aimé Anthony Zimmer. J'aime la façon dont Jérôme Salle filme, ses plans me parlent, je les trouve beaux. J'ai aimé l'histoire, et la réalisation. Le côté petit polar planplan qui en 30 secondes devient "WTF ???". J'ai adoré le cast BLOOM / WHITAKER (Bon seul bémol le personnage de Conrad Kemp sert un peu à rien lui). J'ai aimé le fond qui évoque certaines questions en afrique du Sud. J'ai aimé la course poursuite à pied la plus lente et la plus longue du cinéma (re WTF !). La violence brute mais distillée avec parcimonie...

I stumbled upon this movie browsing some random site having never seen it promoted anywhere. I was intrigued by it when I seen Forest Whitaker was playing the lead and that it was set in South Africa. Zulu starts out interesting at first but quickly turns in a cliched cop drama set in an unusual location. That is not a deal breaker for me but having a poorly executed second and third act is, that is something harder to forgive when dealing with a familiar story. If you're a big fan of Whitaker or you need to see Orlando Bloom's take on the classic drunk pill-popping cop who doesn't have his sh*t together and gets naked, (yes that means dong) than you'll probably want to see it. If not, i'd skip it.
