In England, the Pakistanis Yasmin lives two lives in two different worlds: in her community, she wears Muslin clothes, cooks for her father and brother and has the traditional behavior of a Muslin woman. Further, she has a non-consumed marriage with the illegal immigrant Faysal to facilitate the British stamp in his passport, and then divorce him. In her job, she changes her clothes and wears like a Westerner, is considered a standard employee and has a good Caucasian friend who likes her. After the September, 11th, the prejudice in her job and the treatment of common people makes her take side and change her life.

Great film that tackles the muslim problem after 9/11 through the eyes of a female brit-born muslim.

A very moving and realistic portrayal of a Muslim girl in Britain. It's a shame this film isn't commercial. Archie Panjabi is a very talented actress. She was very convincing in her role. If you enjoy independent films you might like this.

Yes, I must be in a select minority of people who have seen "Yasmin", the film about a Islamic woman living in Scotland before and after the 9/11 attacks. It's portrayal of the hard life and racism encountered is second-to-none, but you can't help wondering: why, if this is the way Islamic people actually live, is a white person directing it? And, from that, stems certain Western ideas that creep into the narrative, and form elements that some may see as bordering on racism.

Good and important and stuff. Like reading the Guardian but on a film; you automatically agree until you realise how self-righteous the undertones are.

Excellent movie about a Bradford-Pakistani girl and shows how 9/11 affected the lives of the people in this northern British city.
