With an exceptionally British touch to it, 'A Brilliant Young Mind' may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the heartfelt and touching story will win a lot of people over. Asa Butterfield does a brilliant job of portraying an autistic young man who struggles to express or understand his feelings about everything except for Maths which is his guiding light. Along the way, he meets various people who have different effects on him and help him to understand that perhaps there is more to life than he previously thought. At its core, it's about finding your place, particularly when you feel a bit different, and that is something that a lot of people will relate to.

What a beautiful film. The performances from everyone were simply fantastic which reflects how good the casting was! The script is light hearted throughout and never becomes self indulgent. When scenes become more serious and hard hitting it works so well with this different dynamic. For such a serious subject matter the dialogue and narrative is handled well. This is a proud, independent British movie that you should see before it disappears.

The last act of A Brilliant Young Mind is undeniably moving but not entirely believable and a little too neat and clean. Still, long after you’ve seen the film, you’ll remember the wonderfully nuanced work of the cast.

BEAUTIFUL, bokeh-packed British drama set in the Yorkshire Dales, Cambridge and Taiwan (!). It promotes education, it promotes tolerance and it's challenging some cultural norms and traditions. Apart from ASD other themes and topics include bereavement, self-harm, bullying, living with chronical illness, addiction, midlife crisis, career stagnation, Chinese children under pressure... but omnia vincit amor! Loved the soundtrack, too. Something tells me this film risks being a bit forgotten, like Pride last year - another British gem. Don't miss!

Absolutely love this film, regardless of your mathematical pedigree, everyone takes something away from this, lovely story.
