In the south of France, in a vast plain region called the Camargue, lives White Mane, a magnificent stallion and the leader of a herd of wild horses too proud to let themselves be broken by humans. Only Folco, a young fisherman, manages to tame him. A strong friendship grows between the boy and the horse, as the two go looking for the freedom that the world of men won't allow them.

Gorgeous film from the director of "The Red Balloon". This director has the amazing ability to tell a story with barely any dialogue. This is a great film which I recommend watching if you can find it.

While the story is not my forte, I couldn't help but be impressed by the photography of every single scene, the way the director manages to attain the performances he needs from animals (and the kid -- I don't know how he didn't drown eight times during the making of this), and of course the image that closes the film -- an impressive ocean tide in the foreground and a horse (carrying a boy) swimming through it in the background. This isn't a movie that can brag about its ability to tell a story. White Mane is one of those movies that says, Here, this is why they invented a device that puts photographs in motion.

An optimistic and poetic story of childhood and taking control of your destiny. A really well done film and one that is shot beautifully! It's only 40 minutes long and in this short time it helps to convey a lot that will make you think after the film has ended!

A nature documentary with a nice story behind it. Beautiful shots and a lead character that looks like he could be in High School Musical doesn't hurt either.
