The Good German (2006)

An American journalist arrives in Berlin just after the end of World War Two. He becomes involved in a murder mystery surrounding a dead GI who washes up at a lakeside mansion during the Potsdam negotiations between the Allied powers. Soon his investigation connects with his search for his married pre-war German lover.

Wasn't suspenseful or shocking and none of the actors in this film acted like the actors in the kind of movies this one was trying to portray but the movie was very cleverly made. You can tell that Soderbergh spent a lot of time watching movies from the '40's. Everything from the lighting to the camera angles was spot on.

I love the style of this film, the story is not so great, but the acting, the music and the amazingly jaw-dropping and beautiful photography are the best thing in the movie, George Clooney is great and Cate Blanchett is more than great, she's amanzing, the only problem in the casting i guess is Toby Mcguire, i don't think he was the right guy for that character, but he's not bad he's actually very entertaining, I just don't think he fits with the character

A pretty good homage to the old classic noirs like Casablanca. Worth a watch.
