there were sporadic entertaining moments but this remake was mostly a wasted exercise. gong li looked quite va-va-voom in those corporate getup though.

big differences from the movie starring Mel Gibson & Helen Hunt...but it's interesting to learn how to understand and manage a relationship in today's society in the East maybe...

Lengthy, flat plot in the middle, this adaptation didn't bring much things for the audience from the original one. I like the casts, but I didn't see the chemistry between them. The story is pretty much like the original Mel Gibson's one with some changes (Nike->Lotto, women running ads -> women cycling ads). Though they bring in new characters (Peter ~ Russel Wong) and change a little bit details near the end, those just failed to amuse me. I also found that this movie is also a showcase for some big brands because you will see the products are everywhere. The verdict is, don't waste your money to watch this in the cinema, consider rent the DVD instead.

The reason to see this stems purely from my curiosity to see how they remake this in China and I was predictably disappointed. A pointless remake setting it in Shanghai that makes less and less sense in plot and character development as it goes on. Apparently it IS possible to make it even more predictable and charmless than the Hollywood original, who could have 'thunk' that? I persist to the end just to see how bad it can get and it is as much a stinker as expected. The lack of chemistry between the two leads (who are pretty decent actors given the right material) and the annoying contrivances coupled with the lack of logic and a believable framework for which to hang the loosest of story on, just serve to infuriate more and proves that this is an exercise devoid of any merit or fun. I mean the original isnt that great to start off with... so who's bright idea is it to do this?
