What Now? Remind Me (2014)

Joaquim Pinto has been living with HIV and VHC for almost twenty years. "What now? Remind Me" is the notebook of a year of clinical studies with toxic, mind altering drugs as yet unapproved. An open and eclectic reflection on time and memory, on epidemics and globalization, on survival beyond all expectations, on dissent and absolute love. In a to-and-fro between present and past memories, the film is also a tribute to friends departed and those who remain.

Imaginative video sequences, animation, thought-provoking observations on religion, philosophy, politics and the nature of existence, are among the scattered gems to be found in this long, sluggish, artsy film.

Mark James 04 Nov 2013

What Now? Remind Me is, despite its name, an extraordinarily lucid, moving portrait of illness, artistry, and, rarest of all, time.

Steve Erickson 16 Feb 2018

... a game-changer of a queer documentary.

Jeannette Catsoulis 06 Aug 2014

Gentle on the eyes but stirring to the mind, What Now? Remind Me is an extraordinary, almost indescribably personal reflection on life, love, suffering and impermanence.

Bilge Ebiri 10 Aug 2014

What Now? Remind Me is all over the place, but it never feels messy or lax.
